Language: grammar and vocabulary
A and an
Choose 'a' or 'an' before a naming word.
We put a little word before a naming word. Sometimes it is "a" and sometimes it is "an".
The rule
Most words that begin with a, e, i, o or u take "an". Other words take "a".
Worked example
Say these out loud: a kite, an owl.
"kite" begins with k, so we say a kite.
K is not one of the five letters.
