Action words today
Add -s to an action word when one person or thing does it.
An action word says what someone does. When only one does it, the word grows a little -s.
The rule
One does it: the cat sleeps. More than one do it: the cats sleep. The -s hops from the naming word to the action word. Two little words never take the -s: 'I' and 'you' — I sing, you sing.
Worked example
The bird ___ every morning. (sing)
Count them. There is one bird.
One doer means the action word takes -s.
Try it together
Let's grow three action words together.
1.One boy. Add -s to 'jump'.
Have a go
Have a go. Which word fits? "My friend ___ cricket."
