Making and breaking tens
Swap ten ones for one ten, and break one ten back into ten ones.
Before you start

Adding within 100
Add two two-digit numbers.
Before you start
Walk along the line and watch the tens go past. Every number with a label under it is ten more than the one before.
Adding 46 + 18 is two walks along this line: ten more carries you from 46 to 56, and eight more steps lands you on 64. That is the same as putting the tens together and then the ones.
