has and have
Choose has or have to match who the sentence is about.
Has and have are the same word doing the same job. Which one you write depends on who the sentence is about.
has — for one
Use has after he, she, it, or one person or thing. The farmer has a tractor. The window has a crack.
have — for more than one
Use have after I, you, we, they, or more than one thing. The farmers have tractors. The windows have cracks.
Watch out
I and you always take have, even though they are only one person. I have a book. You have a book.
Worked example
Let us fill this gap: The two doors ____ the same lock.
Ask who the sentence is about. It is about the two doors.
The word before the gap is the one that decides.
