Sentences into a paragraph

Put sentences in the right order so they make one short paragraph.

A paragraph is a group of sentences that are all about one thing. The sentences have to come in an order that makes sense.

Time words are signposts

First, then, next, after that, last and finally tell you where a sentence belongs.

One thing only

Every sentence in a paragraph has to be about the same thing. A sentence about something else does not belong.

Worked example

Put these in order: Then I put on my shoes. First I put on my socks. Last I ran outside.

  1. Look for the sentence with the word first in it.

    That word is the writer telling you where the paragraph starts.
