Parts of a computer
Name the main parts of a computer system, say what each one does, and follow the input-process-output cycle.

Storage and memory
Measure information in bits and bytes, work out the bigger units from the smaller ones, and tell memory that forgets from storage that keeps.

Bits and binary numbers
Read a binary number using the place values 1, 2, 4 and 8, and write a small ordinary number in binary.
Before you start
Move along the line and count in ones. Every time you pass 1, 2, 4, 8 or 16 you are passing a place value that binary uses as a column.
Those five landmarks are the only numbers binary needs a single 1 to write: 1, 10, 100, 1000, 10000.

Read a file path, name the folder a file sits in, and use the extension to say what kind of file it is.

What is an algorithm?
Follow an algorithm step by step to find what it produces, and explain why changing the order of the steps changes the answer.
1.Those two algorithms use the same starting number and the same two steps, but end differently. Why?
- a) Because the steps were done in a different order
- b) Because one of the two must be wrong
- c) Because 4 is an even number
- d) Because doubling is not allowed twice
