Find the rule in a pattern and say what comes next.

A pattern does the same thing over and over. Once you spot what it does, you can say what comes next.

Worked example

What comes next? 4, 8, 12, 16, ___

  1. Look at the jump from 4 to 8. It is 4.

    Check the jump twice before you trust it. Two numbers can look like a rule by accident.
